Le Roi
Thompson's win of the Bahamas Junior Chess Trophy, here being presented by
RBC Finco representative Coretta Rolle was the culmination of two years
study. Bahamas Chess Federation President Thierry Boeuf (left) commended the
Thompson family for achieving the Bahamian pinnacle of junior chess in such
a short time. Le Roi says his secret is nothing more than study and
practice. |
Finco last game
The last round of the RBC Finco Bahamas Junior Chess championships pitted Le Roi Thompson (far right) against younger brother Lemaro. Onlookers including Mr Thompson, the two brithers' father (4th from right) watch as Le Roi captures a rook and three pawns for Lemaro's bishop and knight, the error that cost Lemaro the championship. In an earlier round, Lemaro helped his brother by beating former champion Elton Joseph, 2nd from right. |
