On Saturday 25th March, The Bahamas
Chess Federation hosted its largest chess tournament ever. The Individual
Scholastic Chess Championship, sponsored by Family Guardian Insurance
Company, attracted ninety-four (94) school aged players including one (1)
student from the College of the Bahamas.

entered one of six categories - Over 16, Under 16, Under 14, Under 12, Under
10 and Under 8.

After four (4) rounds of exciting chess
play, the winners were as follows:
Lincoln Knowles (left)
and Lemaro Thompson (right) are pictured here in the third round of the Over
16 category. Elton Joseph (right next to Thompson) is seen looking on with
great interest. Elton went on to play Lemaro in Round 4 and won. Elton was
crowned the Scholastic Champion for the second consecutive year.
