BCF Receives Overwhelming Response to
Caribbean
Chess Sub Zonal 2010
The
Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF) is preparing for a large turnout of
participants in the upcoming Caribbean Chess Sub Zonal scheduled to be
held in Nassau, Bahamas from June 25 to July 1 this year.

Duncombe wins over National Champion
The
Pohlemus Darling Chess Memorial 2010 was a 4 round swiss tournament played
on Saturday May 8 at the CW Sawyer Primary School Auditorium.
The event was graciously sponsored
by Bahamas Engravers in memory of Pohlemus Darling who was a strong
supporter of Chess in The Bahamas. The 18 player event
with
a time control of Game in 30 minutes (G30) ended with a dramatic match up
between the BCF 2009

BCF and FIDE Rating List January, 2010 Published
The 2009 Bahamas National Chess Champion, Yan Lyansky leads
the January 2010 ratings list of active players.
Lyansky, a College Professor, entered the BCF rating list with a
USCF Standard Rating of 1868.
After an excellent result in the Bahamas Nationals, Lyansky
gained 46 rating points and performed well enough to earn a World Chess
Federation (FIDE) rating. |

The Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF) Blitz Championship
was held on Sunday December 27, 2009.
It is traditional that the BCF host its Open Blitz Tournament on
the last Sunday of each year.

12th December, 2009.

The Bahamas continue to progress
in The World of Chess
Since 2006, The Bahamas Chess
Federation (BCF) Chess Nationals has been rated by The World Chess
Federation (FIDE).
In January, 2007, the BCF had for the first
time, chess players listed on FIDE rating list. Following a successful
programme launched to encourage its members to earn a FIDE rating, there are
now thirteen (13) players who have earned a FIDE rating and twelve (12) of
them remain active.
